How is bulletbooks different from other software and services out there?
Our #1 goal is to make sure you can focus on growing your business by not worrying about the bookkeeping.
We understand that your time is better spent outside of frustrating accounting software.
When you sign up to bulletbooks you’ll get a dedicated expert whose entire mission is to take it all off your hands. Keeping everything organised and staying on top of tax deadlines so you don’t have to worry.
We’re also the only company who offers our services to the US, UK, Canada and Australia. This helps bring global insights and support from around the world.
How does bulletbooks do the bookkeeping?
Once signed up you’ll get a dedicated bookkeeping expert to handle the books and support you along the way.
Your bookkeeper will gather all your data from your current software and statements.
They then…
- Reconcile your accounts
- Categorize your transactions
- Produce your financial statements
- Make adjustments to ensure tax-compliance
- Keep an eye out for irregularities
- Provide reports when needed
- Keep you up to date
- Help file your taxes
- Liaise with your current advisors if necessary
Your bookkeeper might need to reach out on things like categorising a transaction. Yet our goal is to keep it all as hands-off for you as possible. So this will only be occasionally.
You can also message or book a call with your bookkeeper whenever you’d like. This is all included in your monthly plan with no hidden fees or charges.
How long will it take to get onboarded and set up?
Our onboarding process typically lasts 1-3 days after signup. Yet you won’t be needed for most of this. Since your bookkeeper will do the work once they have all the information they need.
How long will it take for you to complete the bookkeeping each month?
After you’re signed up we’ll get to work and have your bookkeeping done within 11 business days.
During this time we will reconcile the accounts. Make any adjustments. Ensure everything is accurate. And prepare your statements before the end of the month.
What if I’m behind on my books and need to catch up?
No worries! A lot of our new clients have been too busy running their business and that’s why they come to us. Catch-up bookkeeping is included in all plans at no extra charge.
Note that free historical bookkeeping is only included up to a certain amount of months. This will depend on the number of transactions you have. Your expert will talk you through this upon sign up.
Is bookkeeping the same as accounting? What’s the difference?
Bookkeepers take care of the day-to-day financials and compile all your financial information. They organise it all and make sure it’s accurate. Bookkeeping is the important backbone of any successful business.
Accounting is about taking the financial information from a bookkeeper or business owner… And creating financial models for decision making.
Do you use cash or accrual based bookkeeping?
When you sign up to bulletbooks we will match the bookkeeping type to what is best suited for your needs.
Most clients use a type of cash basis bookkeeping. This means that we record transactions as soon as the money deposits into your bank account… Or it’s charged from your bank account/credit card.
We can also manage your books via an accrual basis if that’s what your business is more suited to.
We will discuss your needs and goals to help select the right type of bookkeeping for your business.
What’s the difference between accrual and cash bookkeeping?
Cash bookkeeping tracks when money enters or leaves a bank account or credit card. Accrual bookkeeping records when the money was earned or owed.
Most smaller businesses use cash and larger companies use accrual. Your one-on-one expert will help you through this to choose what’s right for you.
Will bulletbooks file my business taxes?
Yes! We can file your taxes and have done so for clients in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Please note that this is an extra service that’s not included in a bookkeeping subscription.
The alternative option is to use a firm of your choice.
Bulletbooks will prepare everything they need and hand them the completed books. This is included in your Bulletbooks subscription at no extra cost.
Your bookkeeping expert will discuss these options with you during sign up.
Will bulletbooks file my personal taxes?
Yes we can submit your personal taxes for you. Please note that this is an extra service that’s not included in a bookkeeping subscription.
When signing up your expert will discuss how to add this option to your plan.
Software & Systems
What’s the difference between bulletbooks and accounting software like Quickbooks or Xero?
Quickbooks, Xero and other accounting software are tools.
Bulletbooks is your one-on-one human expert manager of those tools.
It’s like having your own in-house finance team doing your bookkeeping and other tasks for you.
With Bulletbooks you get a professional bookkeeping team at an affordable monthly cost. So you never have to worry about learning frustrating accounting software again!
What about my existing software?
We integrate with the tools and systems you are currently using. Even if you’re starting with a simple excel sheet.
Our bookkeepers are experienced veterans with all the latest accounting software. From Quickbooks to Xero and beyond.
They will work with the systems and software (or lack thereof) you currently use. We can plug into any of the sophisticated accounting management systems available…
Or get started with the statements from your bank in an excel spreadsheet if needed.
We will also suggest any tools that that could save you money. And do anything we can do to help you grow and achieve your business goals.
Will you help suggest and set up the best tools and software for my business?
Absolutely! Your expert will assess and help choose the right solutions for your business.
And set it all up for you if you need – at no extra charge.

What about payment processors and merchant accounts?
We connect with all major payment processing facilities. Including Stripe, Square, Shopify, Amazon and Paypal. Along with most merchant processing facilities.
All your transactions will be synchronised and reconciled by your Bulletbooks expert.
What software do you use?
All our experts are familliar with most accounting and bookkeeping software.
We integrate with the tools your business currently uses.
We can also suggest any that could save you time and money.
There will be no need for you to learn any new software.
Since we will manage it all for you and send you detailed accurate updates from our own in-house platform.
What do you need to get started?
Getting started with Bulletbooks is easy… Because your dedicated expert will do most of the work for you.
All they need is secure online access to your data and software. Which they will help guide you through.
Upon signing up we will need access to your bank statements. Add us as read-only to your bank data or securely upload an export to your new bookkeeping expert.
We will help you through this process.
What about security and data protection?
You’re in safe hands because we protect all your data with 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption. That’s the same encryption used by banks, healthcare providers and government agencies.
On top of this… All our experts have a minimum of six years experience working with companies like yours.
Our team members are thoroughly vetted. Background checked. And provided with extensive training. To ensure strict accuracy and data security for all clients.
Pricing & Plans
Which plan is best for my business?
We currently offer two plans:
Plan 1: Core Essentials (Most popular)
This is perfect for the small business owner who needs an expert to handle the books… So they can focus on growing the business. The plan generally suits a newer business with 1-5 employees.
Plan 2: Professional Plus+
This plan is for an established or fast-growing business with more monthly transactions… And the need for extra support. It suits a business that has 5 or more employees.
Don’t worry if you think you are choosing the wrong one…
When you sign up and get started, we will discuss your needs with you to help select the right plan for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
You’re free to cancel anytime at no extra cost. You can use your subscription until the end of your billing cycle.
What if I prepaid for the year?
If you decide not to renew an annual plan after the year is over just let us know and we’ll stop billing you for the next cycle.
Are there any one–time fees when I sign up for bulletbooks?
No. There are no hidden fees or charges for using our service. Simply sign up to be billed monthly or annually.
If you sign up to the annual plan you’ll receive an upfront payment discount. Most clients choose the annual option to save even more money on their bookkeeping.
